Take about 10-20 minutes and read this article about the circle of life. It’s really quite amazing.

Snowblowing
Today I learned to operate the snowblower we had handed down to us a few years ago. I’ve used a snowblower before, but nothing quite as big as the one we have now. Once I got used to it, it didn’t seem like a major thing.
The snow was 4-6 inches deep, not counting the drifting. It’s a heavy snow; one that would be good for snowmen.
I got the driveway cleaned off, then had the little kid put on her snow gear so we could get the sledding done while I was already bundled up.
Treading through a couple of inches of snow, uphill, is not an easy task, but we managed to get to the sledding hill, where she took off 5 or 6 times, then decided it was too cold. She hopped in the sled and I pulled her most of the way home.
Just when I thought it was going to be another winter with no snow and reasonably warm temperatures. I keep forgetting that January through March are our severe winter months. It’s easy to forget with those 50 degree 《因爱疯狂》在线观看高清 days.
What IS Sleep?
Yesterday, we got more of a break that we expected: a 3-hour lunch and we were done for the day at 11:30pm. We had to go back from 7am to 9am this morning and finish up.
I admit I’m a little short-fused. I took a nap for 2 hours this afternoon, but it wasn’t enough.
Overall, the upgrade went well… my boss said much better than before. I’d like to think it’s because we were all focused and working together, and organized.
My job was to determine all of the laptops that would be affected by the upgrade, create a sign-in list for each person to document their pick-up time and when they needed the laptop returned, mark the individual cubby for each laptop in the back room and ensure everyone in the office was upgraded to Windows XP.
This was my prep work before all of the hands-on stuff yesterday.
Last year, the error-rate on just determining the laptops involved was 30%. This time, less than 1% off, thankyouverymuch.
It was interesting to see the process. I’m glad it’s over, though.
So Friday…
I’m going to be at work from 7:30am to 2am the next day. That’s 19 hours of work.
I might be asleep by 2am.
Or making terrible techical mistakes.
I asked my boss… “Are we really going to be here that whole time?”
His response: “That’s what we did last time.”

And We Have Snow!
We bought a sled today, and went for several rides down a hill by our neighborhood. Ginger had fun chasing all the sledders.

Daytona Bike Week
We’re on the mailing list at HarleyDavidson.com. I got an email about Daytona Bike Week in March and wondered why anyone would really GO to Sturgis? I mean, the beach, people. In March.
Naturally, we’re not going this year, since we’re a little incapacitated, but next year?
This year, they’re raffling off this chopper. If you go to Daytona, will you buy me a raffle ticket? 🙂

Snow Expected
but not only that… look at the temperatures!
Colder air is already moving in. Initially dry air will limit any precipitation to just a few sprinkles or patchy of sleet or freezing drizzle tonight into Friday and Friday night. It now appears Saturday could bring a burst of a few inches of snow, then ending for a time. Saturday night should be mostly dry with Sunday seeing the snow pick up again, particularily the afternoon and Sunday night. Parts of Nebraska and Iowa could have very heavy snow, maybe upwards of a foot or more…though it’s too early to say “for sure” what we will get around the Omaha metro, latest computer models indicate 4-8 inches are possible for Omaha. Snowplowers and snowshovelers get ready!!
This Afternoon: Cloudy with slowly falling temperatures. High 40.
Tonight: Chance of freezing drizzle. Low 17.
Friday: Cold with flurries or freezing drizzle possible. High 21.Extended Forecast
Saturday: Cold with a 60% chance of snow. Low 12. High 17.
Sunday:70% chance of snow..some accumulation likely. Low 11. High 17.
Monday: Mostly cloudy and cold. Low 7. High 15.
Tuesday: Cold. Low -4. High 11.
Wednesday: Partly cloudy. Low 0. High 20.

Joint Replacement. It’s Not As Easy As it Sounds
Today, a physical therapist who saw my husband said, “I don’t understand people who say, after knee replacement surgery, that it hurts so bad. They should know what to expect. They got themselves into this. ” Meaning, of course, that knee replacement really is elective… especially if you don’t mind riding in a cart instead of walking for the rest of your life.
So I explained to her that you can say, “This is really going to hurt for awhile” as much as you want, but some things you never know till you experience them. You can imagine a gun shot wound hurts, but you don’t know the pain until it happens. And getting the artificial joints to work like original joints (or close to it) takes some work.
Her response was that they should explain it better in pre-op.
I thought… yeah, this would be a bad time to tell someone surgery is going to hurt. Good thing this woman is not a nurse.
As painful as knee replacement seems to be, things do get better. Even though it may not be obvious for at least a month, that walker does go away.
