Good News!

Good news number 1: It’s my birthday and I’ve got loads of happy pressies, cards and emails from my fiance, friends and my family, and a day with my daughter.  Yay! 🙂

Good news number 2: Sitting in my inbox this morning was our NOA2 – Our notice from Immigration saying that our petition to have Ian come to America has been approved! YAY! After sobbing for a few minutes and re-reading the email to make sure it actually said what I thought it said, I emailed Ian, who is also incredibly excited.

Our next steps: Our petition becomes the property of the Department of Homeland Security, passes through the National Visa Center in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and then arrives at the London Embassy.

The embassy mails Ian a bunch of paperwork to fill out, he lets them know he’s got his papers together, they arrange for an interview, a medical appointment, and then we buy the air ticket we’ve been talking about, where neither of us has to say goodbye at the airport.

We’re so excited! 😀

It’s so funny that the email we’ve been waiting to see since April, finally turned up and it was the very last item I noticed in my mailbox.   What is even funnier is that I would have known this last night, if I’d not gone to sleep at 9, instead of the 11:30 to midnight I have been.   For the best, really.    My UK family got a full night’s sleep!   🙂

Happy days!

  1. My tourist visa interview is on Thursday at the US Embassy in London. Hope I’ll get good news too. Congrats to both of you.

  2. Oooo Silverback – good luck my friend. I’m sure you’ll be fine. From what I’ve heard it’s a bit like waiting at Argos – take a ticket, sit for hours staring at the numbers board until yours is called and then a 5 minute chat at a bank-style teller’s window.
