Ever since I decided to wire cable TV into my daughter’s room, I’ve been able to watch “grown up” tv, like House, MD. House is a big smart arse, IMO, to the extreme… almost annoyingly so.
But I watch it anyway.
During tonight’s episode, House told his patient, “Hope is for sissies”. Very profound, I personally think.
I used to hope for things I never thought would happen. It doesn’t take much effort to hope, but it does to take calculated risks, or even to decide to get up and do something that seems a little scarey,
The fact is that once a person becomes determined to do that thing (or those things) which has previously seemed like a pipe dream, a feeling of profound accomplishment and inner strength arise. Impossibilities open up into possibilities, and really, the world opens up at your feet.
Hope *is* for sissies.
IMO the trick is to have realistic hopes….remember the baby kangaroo! ;o)

Yes, but hopes don’t get you far without some sort of action, right? lol @ the baby kangaroo. 🙂
Phew…..was almost about to send you a comment about using the words ‘spoiler alert’ when mentioning shows but with one eye closed, I realised you’d not given anything away.
Yes I’m not sure why I watch House so avidly either as he really is a miserable, obnoxious self centred sod. But of course THAT’S the whole point.
And for a Brit, seeing comedy actor Hugh Laurie in such a role is reason enough for watching it.
First off – that picture is the background on my mobile phone. 🙂 [I’m guessing that you have not changed the picture to something like a pouting ladyboy with a T-shirt that says “I’m precious” after I post this comment]
Secondly, not seen House except for about the last 45 seconds by accident whilst channel-surfing. I’m told it’s brilliant and Hugh Laurie has been pretty good in several things before so I’m guessing he’s doing well in this too – especially as I am given to understand he employs a passable American accent – something I’m working on although if I remember correctly I’m not actually allowed to try. 😉

SB – I just started watching House. I’m also watching SCRUBS, which is not too bad, either. There IS television outside of Hannah Montana. I’m shocked, really.
Ian – Yes, he sounds perfectly American to me, and yes, you ARE corrrect, as usual. No changing of the accent. 😉
This was a really good photo, IMO… taken in the midst of the thai restaurant after several Leffe’s and other misc alcohol. 🙂 Gem and Fletch were sitting just across from us. 🙂

Cady – They have House on iTunes? I’ll have to check this out. I’m thinking about seeing if they have the series at Blockbuster.
