Pride & Prejudice

The best love story ever (aside from my own).

[last lines]
[US version]
Mr. Darcy: How are you this evening, my dear?
Elizabeth Bennet: Very well… although I wish you would not call me “my dear.”
Mr. Darcy: [chuckles] Why?
Elizabeth Bennet: Because it’s what my father always calls my mother when he’s cross about something.
Mr. Darcy: What endearments am I allowed?
Elizabeth Bennet: Well let me think…”Lizzie” for every day, “My Pearl” for Sundays, and…”Goddess Divine”… but only on *very* special occasions.
Mr. Darcy: And… what should I call you when I am cross? Mrs. Darcy…?
Elizabeth Bennet: No! No. You may only call me “Mrs. Darcy”… when you are completely, and perfectly, and incandescently happy.
Mr. Darcy: [he snickers] Then how are you this evening… Mrs. Darcy?
[kisses her on the forehead]
Mr. Darcy: Mrs. Darcy…
[kisses her on the right cheek]
Mr. Darcy: Mrs. Darcy…
[kisses her on the nose]
Mr. Darcy: Mrs. Darcy…
[kisses her on the left cheek]
Mr. Darcy: Mrs. Darcy…
[finally kisses her on the mouth]

(yes, I cried)

  1. I love costume dramas, but have to keep asking my wife what the relationship is between different characters….I have a habit of instantly forgetting! Same with reading the book versions of these dramas. I would need to have name tags on all the characters!

  2. I’ve not read it or seen it. *hangs head in shame* but this little snippet has made me want to.
It’s looking really smart and professional in here by the way. Very nice.
(p.s. I popped over to see your dad the other day and saw some very cute photos of you. ;o)

  3. Cady – Have not seen the old movie.. What did you like about it more?

IP – I have often thought the same thing.. Name tags would be perfect.

Gem – I’m glad I’m not alone! Have you read the book? Thanks, about the new design. There’s not much to actual designwork in WP, as you know. 🙂

Daffy – Same here, until yesterday. It was very good, and I plan to watch it again to catch whatever I’ve missed.

SGT – LOL… Not even the ending? What don’t you like about it?
