Another List

I’ve been engrossed in “evening out” emotionally this week.    Today’s list has to do with being “authentic” whilst under stress.   This is a list of things I’ve been thinking about or have learned this week:

1.   Don’t let hysterical people influence you.   Be yourself.   Use your own brain.

2.   When you get a minute in all the chaos, decide how you really want to react to a situation.    Don’t base it on “what everyone else seems to be doing” in the same situation.

3.   Focus on the important things.

4.  Don’t be greedy when you’re given a chance to be.  Be fair.   Act with integrity.

5.  Thinking for yourself and deciding your course of action empowers you.

6.  Be gracious and accepting when presented with apologies.   This is a good time to take responsibility for your own part in unsual reactions to things.

7.  Make time for yourself (oh-so-important), even if it’s just spending time alone in the bath or taking a walk, writing to a friend or cooking something you like.   Just do it.

8.  Take time to “be in the now”.   Focusing on one thing right now, in this moment, allows you to temporarily forget everything else.

9.  Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.   People do.   Admit when you’re wrong.   Don’t judge other people when they are.

10.  Give yourself credit for making good decisions, based on what you know at the time.

11.  Pick your battles.   Some things are just not worth wasting raised blood pressure over.

12.   Be audacious.   It’s ok!   🙂  

13.   You only live once (theoretically).   Make the most of it.

14.   Don’t dwell on negatives.

15.   Don’t live in the past.  It’s not like you can do it over.   Learn from it and go on.

16.   Be honest, even if it makes you feel vulnerable.
