This is a good day for the lurkers to speak up.

Just being themselves. You’ll see what I mean.
My brain is being infused with everything computer hardware-related. I already do plenty of hardware-related stuff at work… equipment ordering, upgrades, troubleshooting.. Whatever. I would just like to have a certification, so I have some proof that I know what the heck I am doing. It looks good on a resume.
So I’m taking a class to go through the important stuff that could be on the exam.
I would just like you to know that you can feel a 1mA voltage, which is a little less than you get by putting two wet fingers on a 9v battery’s connectors. 10mA is enough to contract your muscles to the point where you can’t let go of that electrical thing you just grabbed, and 100mA is enough to kill you. So, don’t put anything in a socket that isn’t supposed to be there.
Also, don’t buy any computers with less than a 300 watt power supply. It’s not enough to run things efficiently. You need power to run your gamer video card, your super speedy processor and your fancy DVD recorder.
Require a L2 cache unless you’re happy with surfing the internet or sending email. Back away from the Celeron, dude. While you’re at it, head for the new duo core technology. It allows for faster multitasking with less heat being conducted.
That’s about it for now.
Like you care. 🙂
Don’t forget to catch the lunar eclipse on Tuesday morning, August 28, 2007.
This is a time when not being able to sleep pays off. If you like astronomical events, that is.

What is your favorite kind of pie?
Chocolate cream, but only if it has a graham cracker crust.
Soup
Name something that made you smile this week.
TLK and I made a diorama. I’ve never made a diorama before, but it was an interesting project. It is not every day that you see a rabbit, wolf, dog, cat and bird peacefully cohabitating.

What do you do to cool off when the weather is hot and humid?
Spend time in the air conditioning, or go swimming

You receive $1,000 in the mail with a letter that says you can only use the money to redecorate one room in your home. Which room do you pick, and what do you buy to spruce it up?
My bedroom. I would have the carpet ripped up and put wood floors in. The walls would be repainted, the closets redone and furniture bought/replaced.

Fill in the blank: My _________ says __________, but I __________.
My alarm clock says “Wake up”, but I would rather sleep.

The Little Kid came home early yesterday with a headache, stomachache and a fever of 101.7 F. We dosed her up with Motrin a couple of times and her temperature went to normal. It was normal after a few hours of the Motrin’s advertised range of 6-8 hours.
This morning, there was no temp, no symptoms, so off to school.
At 12:45, I got a phone call saying the temp was up to 100.7. I scooped her up and waited for an opening at the dr’s office. My appointment was at 4:10. I got in at 5:30.
The strep test was positive, so a prescription for amoxcillin was called in.
The pharmacy and the insurance company battled it out for an hour in an effort to win my daughter’s correct date of birth. While they battled, no medicine would be dispensed, even when we offered to pay for it and get reimbursement.
Finally, with a dose of amoxcillin in her system, we’re still not having luck keeping the temperature down. Apparently, those white blood cells are duking it out with those little strep molecules. Little bastards.
So, I’m off work tomorrow while my coworker takes care of my training classes (I’m teaching… or not) for the second day in a row. God bless him, anyway.
I just hope the temp drops tomorrow. And the throat pain goes away. I know that pain all too well. I was a strep recipient all through jr. and sr. high, on an annual basis.
Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery.
Our intended destination was the airport, just to get out of the house. We stopped by a roadside parking spot and noticed a bridge beside Carter Lake, and decided that looked more interesting than planes taking off.
This is a not a no-wake lake, so the ski boats and other boats are out there speeding along.

There were tons of lily pads, but we didn’t see any amphibians.

A couple of ducks hit the water just as the sun was beginning to set.
If you look carefully, or if you just have a good eye, you can see Luna in the sky.
The Omaha skyline. The tallest building is the First National Bank building, which is the tallest skyscraper between Minneapolis and Denver. If you click the link above, you can see some interesting facts about this building, like it stands in the former location of the 17-story Medical Arts Building, but part of the wall from the Medical Arts building still stands inside of the tower.

For the last few weeks, the weather here has been unbearable. Actual temperatures have been in the middle to high 90’s, but the “feel like” temperature, thanks to the extreme humidity has been in the 100’s.
Our house is 73 degrees inside. Coming from outside, it feels like it’s 32 degrees. All of our 1st level windows are steamy, like a sauna. Because, that’s what it is outside.
But thank God for air conditioning. Some people aren’t so lucky. I hope they are heading for the mall mid-day, if just to take in some air.
