A memorial to the military who lost their lives in Afghanistan has been posted here. People put their lives on the line for their country every day in the roughest of circumstances. It is sad when they go in the line of duty. RIP
Saying “So Long” to Summer
It’s been an interesting summer for Brit, I think, shuffling around from summer program to summer program, instead of sticking with one thing all summer. This week marks the end of The Rose Theater program, which has lasted for 3 weeks. The program involved benraku puppetry, and she seemed to be really excited about it. Unfortunately, an illness is not allowing her to be in today’s performances, but I think she’ll be ready to go on Saturday.
In July, was a week of band camp, where kids from all over the school district came together to learn and perform together. It was very cool to see the final performance and how well they learned 3 new pieces within a course of a week.
Before that was 3 weeks of summer school. The reading portion didn’t go over so well, but the computer graphics half of the day was something Brit was pretty excited about. We learned new things from it, too. Let’s face it, there are a lot of fun sites computer graphics people know about that regular geeks do not. Or I may just be speaking for myself. 🙂
So, next week, it’s back to school. It’s a whole new year in middle school, learning things like foreign languages and industrial arts, cooking, and participating in band AND choir. Sounds like a busy year.
亚洲а∨天堂久久精品2021 will be here before we know it, then it’s off to Seattle, and hopefully a daytrip to Canada. Yay!
Commentary on commentary
I’m not really understanding too much about the purpose of online commentary anymore. Every single news story I see has a place for comments at the end. Can I just say that people can be exeptionally ruthless?
People even have crappy things to say about people starving in Somalia. This is ridiculous and disgusting. It’s not all people are commenting vehemently about, but it’s the story I find least deserving of crappy comments at the moment.
I keep thinking… Would you say these things to a person’s face? Would you actually stare a starving Somalian person in the face and say, “Tough luck. Move somewhere else.” Or something 1000 times worse?
I guess everyone has an opinion and a right to express their opinion, but really? Are we really living amongst so many exceptionally asinine people who just want to document their most hateful opinion on news stories about whatever story they find deserving of their abuse?
Maybe comment sections should be altered to say, “Please write the most inhumane, hateful thing you can think of here. Just be a total ass. Go ahead.” Then the world of online commentary might begin to make sense.
Happy Pelicans
Pelicans are rescued throughout the year by many agencies, but I am most in touch with the Internation Bird Rescue organization. I watched them clean all sorts of birds after the oil spill in Louisiana, and admire their gentle work in helping to get the sea birds back to their natural habitat, able to fly.
As you may know, it’s impossible for birds to fly with heavy oil in their wings.
As the birds rehabilitate, they need supplies of food. A lot of food. This helps them rehabilitate and regain their strength so they can go back to the wild and fend for themselves, all with their help and ours.
If you click on the link below, you can read more about pelican rehab, visit their rehab facitility, watch some cleaning, and then donate a bit to help fund the fish the pelicans need to rebuild their strength.
YOU can help with just a small donation, via Paypal or via your credit card details.
Thanks for helping these beautiful creatures!

A note about OS X Lion and the lack of family pack..
Re: Lion family pack with multiple Apple IDs?Jun 11, 2011 5:45 PM (in response to Spinland)
I think that you guys are misunderstanding and mixing two different requirements regarding the MAS and the iTunes Store.
Regarding the iTunes Store, you can authorize a total of five Macs or PCs at the same time to use your purchased iTunes media; music, videos and audiobooks.
The software from the MAS can be installed on every Mac that you own or have in your control, which may include Macs issued to you and immediate family members by their place of employment or an educational institution. You do not need an account on every one of the Macs to install the software that you purchase. You only need to sign into your MAS account at the moment of installation of the software on that Mac. You will also need to sign into your account to execute a software update for the software that you installed on that Mac.
Meet My New Pet Peeve
I can’t begin to say how many times I’ve seen this lately. A person (sometimes me) is backing out of a parking space. This requires a lot of attention to the surrounding objects. It can’t be done too slow or too quickly; you just back out, right?
So maybe half-way into being out of the parking space, a person comes down the lane and does not appear to be stopping. True that the person driving straight down a lane normally has the right-of-way, but if you are already impeding this person’s straight driving down the lane, does he REALLY have the right-of-way?
Let me save everyone who has no sign of ettiquette, at least, or patience and those who think the world should get out of theirway so they can go fast to where they want to go… some time. It’s rude to cut people off who already have a more complicated procedure underway. It’s not very nice, especially when carrying on some distracting activity, like talking on your phone, to breeze by someone who could potentially step a bit harder on the gas and run into you.
The big question is: Must I continually (continually) look behind me the entire time I am backing out of my parking stall (which should only take a minute, really) to avoid people who have no consideration for other drivers? My backing process is taking twice as long because I know people will not have the courtesy to stop.
I’m just saying. Patience is a virtue, and it’s nice to be a considerate driver.
The Feeling of Something “Not Right”
I have just been reading the investigator’s report concerning his initial interviews with Casey Anthony and some of her acquaintances.
I know that people say, “It’s the legal system. It did what it could and people just have to accept it.”
There is a difference between “innocent” and “not guilty”, I know. But I don’t believe Casey Anthony is either of these, especially not after reading this: investigator’s report
Hot Shops Art Center
Just when I thought we’d been almost everywhere in Omaha, we went to Hot Shops Art Center. Hot Shops isn’t just another art gallery. It’s also a place where artists do some of their work, so you’ll see loads of art-making equipment, as well as shops and glass counters stocked with items to buy.
I enjoyed an area called “Into the Woods“, where cowboy hats made out of wood and tree carved wall hangings were displayed. You would think the wood would be heavy from the look of it, but it’s very light.
I’m betting it takes some time to make an actual sized cowboy hat out of wood.
It’s a nice place to wander through, take some classes and watch artists doing their work.
