Erm.. Christmas?

It seems with all the festivities, moving, etc., it’s suddenly almost Christmastime. We’re just beginning to think about Christmas lists. Isn’t that terrible? I mean, some people have been knitting things for ages in preparation for the holiday, but here we are .. just beginning.

Still, I think if we can put a wedding together within 3 weeks, essentially, we should be able to figure out what the heck we are doing for Christmas. 😀

In other news, last week, for about a week, our golden retriever was ill. I have a feeling she hoovered up some spices that had been inadvertently dumped on the floor. She had a terrible “something is torturing me inside” look on her face, and we became abundantly attentive and worried about her. But nearly a week later, she’s right as rain and tromping about like a mad puppy. No vet required. Thank God.

The mini schnauzer has been treated to a doggy make-over, where she’s been properly turned into a schnauzer again. For awhile, it appeared she was a sort of terrier instead. Poor thing. She huddles more in a nest of blankets for warmth and hesitates going outside, because “It’s cold out there” (yes, she does speak).

Little Miss What’s-Her-Name (who is almost as tall as me now, worryingly) has her first band concert next week. Yes, the euphonium is loud, but she seems to love it and is dedicated to getting her practice pieces right.  (Note to self: pack Kleenex)

Otherwise, we’ve just been getting through the week, frequently entertained, I think by describing the complexity of aircard technology, various programming things too complex (especially to me) to mention, on-the-fly training sessions and intermittent drinkings of wine in contemplation of who the heck is going to unpack all the boxes (nearly there. Really!)

Happy Shopping.

Moving Day

So some of the hightlights:

  • Having people move your furniture.. SO much better than doing it yourself.   We would recommend Patts Moving Services  for anyone in the Omaha area.
  • Our couch, which pretty much fell apart awhile ago, couldn’t make it up the stairs and making it via hoist up the balcony, not too likely.   Sad.  Shopping ensued.
  • We were about to take the dogs outside to wee, when Ginger ran out the front door and into the back seat of a car…   not our car, but Brit’s friend, Judy’s.    Everyone laughed.  Judy wanted to keep the dog.   I guess Ginger likes riding in cars.  lol
  • I took a bath in our new en suite bathroom.   It is very small (the bathroom), but it was kind of nice taking a bath while listening to QVC.  🙂

There is a lot more unpacking to do here, moving food and clothing, and cleaning of the old place, but we’ve made a lot of headway today.   We even have cable tv and Internet.  🙂

Now onto the next thing

thanksgivingleaves Pictures, Images and PhotosNow that the shopping and patisserie making is done for Ian’s birthday (so happy he liked his day!), it’s time to move onto the next events for the month:   Thanksgiving and moving, all in one fell swoop.   Thanksgiving is coming on Thursday, where we’ll have a big of nice cooking and baking and some lounging around for a day, then we pick up the keys for the new place the next day.

Let the moving begin.   We’ve got quite a few boxes packed, and more to do… but I think it’s really under control.   I can’t wait to get everything transferred to the new apartment and begin enjoying a more up-dated place with the extra bathroom, nice bathtubs and brand-new carpet.   Exciting!

We found a new place

(no, thisiisn't actually the apartment)We’re excited to be moving at the end of 4484在线观看视频 to a new apartment that we picked out together.  It’s newly decorated, new wood floors, new carpet and an extra bath, which seems to be something we really need lately.   Plus, all the electrical outlets are new, so no more cords falling out of the walls.  And, it’s got a great view.

What we like the most is that it’s got a great view of the pool and the trees from the balcony.

What we may not like so much is being on the 3rd floor when we have to take the dogs out.    But hey, it’s more exercise, right?   At least, that’s what we keep telling ourselves.

There’s a lot going on in 4484在线观看视频.   Nov 1 is the anniversary of Ian’s first day of arrival, permanently, in the United States!

4484在线观看视频 18th is Ian’s birthday.  😀

We move 4484在线观看视频 27.

Our first anniversary is 4484在线观看视频 29th!

Before that, though, we need to go to the Pumpkin Walk at school, the Halloween party at the school, and go Trick or Treating on 宅男女神排行榜 31.   We’re all wearing costumes this year.   Ought to be loads of fun, and maybe a bit cold.

Winter will be here before you know it.

Crabbiness is not fun

for anyone.   I had a really crabby day yesterday.   I blame stress and hormones, because I am a woman, afterall, and what else could it possibly be?

I have a LOT on my plate right now.  For the most part, I can put most of it on the back burner.   But every now and then, the stressful bits come off the back burner and play around in my head.    One thing leads to another.   As more minute things happen, the crappiness (and the crabbiness) stockpiles.

Rather than allow this to happen, I have a plan, or two.

When things seem overly annoying, I can:

  • Put on my sneakers and take a walk (or a run)
  • Grab my sketchbook and find something to draw.   It’s good to have a project that involves concentration, so I can do one of my art class projects.
  • Grab a glass of wine.   Of course, this doesn’t work out well mid-morning.
  • Stop internalizing things.    It’s not necessary to spew out things to people as they annoy you, either, unless it’s really tactful.. especially at work.   But this doesn’t stop me from pulling out a piece of paper or opening notepad and writing something to make me feel like I’ve got it off my chest, either.
  • Try to think of things that are not bad, although sometimes this is difficult mid-crisis   🙂
