Fun in the Snow

We had enough snow and the air temperature was bearable enough that we could go sledding today.

There were about 15 other kids on the hill, too; mostly boys. They built a ramp out of snow and were taking turns running into each other. 🙂

The little kid headed down the hill happy as could be, except for when her foot got stuck in the steering rope, and she was pretty sure she was permanently stuck on the hill, entangled in a sled.

A couple of times, I hopped on back and rode down with her. It’s something you’re never too old to do. Maybe when I’m 80 years old, we’ll still go down the hill on the sled. 🙂

Ice Storm

We had an ice storm here today. See the icicles?

I had to take our schnauzer out front to pee because the back deck was all ice. While I was out there, the neighbor’s tree snapped off a big branch due to the weight of the ice, and it fell beside their car.

It was a long day indoors. At 4pm, I let the dogs out back and the ground was just wet. We got in the car and ran a few errands and then grabbed a coffee from the local coffee house (one of many coffee houses around here, mind you). It was good to get out!

I have been sitting here listening to the Canadiens v. Predators game. The Habs lost in a final shoot-out (a tie-breaking process after OT doesn’t render a winner) 4 – 5.

Losing doesn’t seem to be quite the big deal it is for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Canadian fans are sweet, really, compared to the cut-throat Nebraska football fans.

Darn Cold

This morning at 6am, it was 3 degrees F above zero. Now it is just 1. The fact is that once it gets below, say 15 degrees F, it doesn’t matter too much any more.

When you go outside, it feels like you’re in the back of an incredibly cold freezer.

Last night, after being outside for 5 minutes, it felt like my jeans were frozen.

Seriously.

I need some warm air.

Yesterday, we got our electricity bill. Keep in mind we have a gas furnace. But our electric bill was what it normally is when it’s the dead of summer and we’ve been running the air conditioner all day.

The culprit? The darned electric heater running downstairs all the time. It’s darn cold down here, only because our clothes dryer is letting in TONS of cold air.

The fixit thing we need to get:

The Dryer Vent Seal
