Christmas Shopping

You know, the malls are surprisingly empty for Christmas Shopping Season. I was there from around 6:30 to 8:30. The aisles were actually passable.

Of course, it IS Wednesday.

I came home with one gift. I had to go to 4 stores to find a particular style of Skechers my step-daughter wanted. Finally, I snagged them at Dillards. They were on a surprise sale, which was good.

I saw some shoes for over $110. They weren’t special running shoes or anything. Just clogs.

I can’t imagine, but that’s just me.

The Wreath I Decorated for Work

My employer paid people to decorate huge wreaths for the office. This is the one I did. It’s about 3 feet tall. It cost around $35 (my allowance) to decorate. I had a hard time deciding how to decorate it. I wanted “cute”, but I found that kind of hard to do with a really large wreath. Posted by Picasa

Lost

I guess I’m a little lost lately. Lost and cranky.

Today, some people are coming to look at our macaw. Macaws are expensive to maintain. I love Rocky, but every week, he eats twenty dollars worth of toys and eats like a small child. No one takes the time to clean the cage like it should be cleaned. But I’m panicking anyway. The longer it takes for them to get here, the worse it feels. (Update: One bird off to a really nice, new family)

A week from Tuesday, my husband is having a double knee replacement. It’s going to be a lot of work for him, and for me, for the next 6 weeks, at least. The recovery time greatly depends on the person, and he’s motivated to recover.

For up to 6 weeks, he won’t be able to drive. For awhile, he’ll be moving around with a walker and/or crutches.

We’ll get through it. Sometimes it seems like a lot, but that’s what marriage and life is all about. Sometimes it’s just overwhelming.

On the upside, I’ll have 7 days off of work. That alone has to be a blessing, right?

Yesterday, we were in the Harley shop, looking around at stuff, like we do every weekend. I saw my Rider’s Edge instructor (one of them) in the shop. I sat on a Fat Boy and brought it off the kickstand. He saw me do that. He asked me if I was getting a new bike, and I said “no”, but I’d been out riding 3 times before the weather turned ungodly FRIGID.

It’s good to be in the Harley shop and run into people you know. I keep hoping to run into any of my classmates, as well. Maybe later, though. It’s seems to be a homing beacon for motorcyclists around here.

A Tree For Me

While in Hobby Lobby today, I noticed a collection called “A Tree For Me”. There were miniature artificial trees, tiny ornaments and little stars to put on top.

I couldn’t resist. I picked out some dog and cat ornaments, since the little kid is an animal person, and a few other things. The picture below is a result of our decorating.

We have not put up our real tree yet, but we have this one. The little kid is keeping it in her room.

I think we just created a “tradition”. Her face when she took the items out of the bag for “my own tree”?

Priceless.
