Do you think the guys will ever show up for work, or do they drive around all day?

Today was the day of my 6 month review at my “new job”. I was surprised. I got several “meets requirements”, but also a couple of “exceeds requirements”. Out of all the stories I’ve listened to about old employers and what happened there, my favorite was the one I heard today.
“My old boss said, ‘You should never trade employees. You should trade-up. I believe that’s what we did.'”
Not only that, but he noticed my lack of personal development, although my drive to do my job well was definitely there. He asked me why. I told him that I wasn’t sad about losing out on the database development thing, and that if he really wanted the truth, my ambition was web design.
He said, “Ok.. when do you want to start? You got FrontPage loaded on your PC?”
For the first time in 6 months, I feel like a motivated person again. I know it sounds silly, but it’s more than being recognized. It’s going from total unappreciation to appreciation.. in a matter of a day.

Did you know that the DNA testing of fatalities in Hurricane Katrina has been stopped for 3 months? I’m sure there’s a reason for that, but on the human level, it’s a little disturbing. My husband spoke to a man this weekend whose mother has been missing since the hurricane in August. A woman is in the morgue meeting the description of his mother. However, since the body is deteriorated, they need to do DNA testing to be sure of her identity. The man called the morgue and said he would pay for the DNA testing right now to find out if that is his mother or not. If the woman is not his mother, then he has already paid for the DNA testing, and he was willing to do that. It’s worth it to him to be able to get closure. He was told he could not pay for DNA testing because that is between the government of Louisiana and who knows who else.
“An elderly woman was trying to reclaim the body of her husband, who died in the flood, but was refused by the central morgue because DNA testing had not begun, as the contract with the laboratory has not yet been finalised. ” The Story You have to be concerned when the government of Louisiana talks about doing anything. To me, the government of Louisiana is a joke. However, this story does make the situation look promising, and hopefully the families and friends of these people will finally be able to put an end to some of their questions about their missing loved ones.
