Can’t imagine what it is like to be close to one of these things. We don’t get them in the West of Scotland, thank goodness. ! think I would be terrified.

We have seen programmes about those who go tornado-hunting…..not for science, but for fun so that they can get photographs!…..are these folk nuts?

The problem with watching is that tornados can form almost instantly. They can be pretty hard to see if they’re not filled with rain or debris. The one that hit near our house in ’67 wasn’t visible until it filled with dirt and debris from the bottom up. It looked like someone rapidly filling a vase with dirt.

Yes… there are 4 dead and 48 injured; linked in the post. Sad thing… being in the midst of a campground with just a few buildings doesn’t give you much protection. They should actually have a storm shelter there if they host these camps often (and I believe they do).

I read of a tornado that swept through a boy scout camp killing some children. Awful.
